How to make fear your superpower in 2024

There's a favourite quote of mine from Thomas Fuller that I like to reflect on at certain points throughout the year: "All things are difficult before they are easy."

This rings especially true when it comes to navigating the uncertain (and exciting!) world of business in the Dance industry. As we look toward 2024, I wanted to talk about something that has been my secret superpower in really propelling my business forward - FAST:

Making friends with FEAR.

It's natural to feel fear when we're faced with big decisions or changes in our businesses. But what if we could transform that fear into a driving force that accelerated our growth?

embracing fear for empowerment

  1. Acknowledge and Confront: First, identify your fears. Is it the risk of a new venture or the uncertainty of stepping outside your comfort zone? Recognising these fears is the first step towards conquering them.

  2. Redefine Fear's Role: Shift your perspective to see fear as a signal, pointing towards opportunities for growth. When you start viewing fear as an indicator rather than a roadblock, every challenge becomes a chance to grow.

  3. Start Small, Dream Big: Begin with manageable challenges. This could be trying out a new marketing strategy or revamping your class schedule. Success in these smaller endeavors builds the confidence needed for more significant leaps.

  4. Celebrate Every Act of Bravery: Value the courage it takes to face your fears, regardless of the immediate results! This positive reinforcement fosters a resilient mindset.

  5. Lean on Your Network: Seeking advice and support is NOT a sign of weakness but of wisdom. Engage with mentors, peers, or professional networks when faced with daunting decisions.
